Description

Pure decadence, one of the most sought after vintage Champagne's and a rare opportunity to get a '78 vintage (also '77 available in my listings). This is an exquisite vintage and will be sure to impress.

Both of these were originally part of a vertical (purchased from Dreweatts and Bloomsbury Auctioneers) and stands a noble second only to the mighty '76 and just in front of the '77 and '75, but with fewer signs of oxidation than other nearby vintages so a very lively, fresh taste still, sure to impress.

Complex, sweet/candy and fruity on the palate as to be expected with Cristal but the maturity adds a nutty, roasty length.

Indicative blend: Chardonnay 40% and Pinot Noir 60%. Style: aged for six years and left for a further eight months after degorgement.

Would keep, but really in it's prime right now for distinguished guests and special occasions alike (such as 40 birthday next year?)

Level is IN (into neck) and considering it is 39 years old it is outstanding and is in generally good condition, label fully intact but has slight signs of storage discoloration that could probably be cleaned up a bit (I keep everything original) but cork fully intact with no seepage. Just be honest, so no surprises but this is still very good condition considering the age.

Currently kept in my Eurocave, need to clear some space for incoming shipments, I look after all my wines to a professional standard and only take in bottles with good provenance.
