FOR SALE: 1 BOTTLE OF 1978 TAITTINGER BRUT SPECIAL EDITION VASARELY DESIGN - IN ORIGINAL BOX.

Sold in excellent condition, with the bottle looking as new, with the box showing minor signs of wear for 30 years old.

This now very rare and quite unique bottle could be called a work of art in its own right - and you may be able to see why if you take a good look at the pictures and from reading the following:

It was this dedication to beauty that saw the collaboration of Taittinger with some of the most renowned artists around the world and the beginning of the ‘Taittinger Collection’.

In 1983, Hungarian born artist, Victor Vasarely created the first bottle in the collection. Vasarely’s penchant for geometric shapes was a perfect fit to create a most distinctive look for the design of a bottle. The wine in Vasarely’s bottle was a 1978 Brut consisting of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir. Since then, other artists to adorn bottles with their artistic visions have been Roy Lichenstein (1990), Imaï (1994) and Rauschenberg in 2007. Only 5000 bottles of the Taittinger Collection are created in each production, making them a rare and unique acquisition.

This bottle has been in my family for at least 20 years and has been stored very well and hardly moved.

Prices of these vary quite wildly, but FRW currently have them at £520 ex vat. You can get them cheaper from L'assemblage (again ex vat) but I have been told this is without the box. My reserve is set considerably below the FRW price and is fair considering the condition and prestige of this bottle.

The bottle will be very securely packed and sent fully insured above the winning bid, on receipt of cleared funds.
