Description

The lot consists of two bottles of Claret from the excellent 1988 Bordeaux Right Bank vintage:-

One bottle of 1988 Clos du Clocher Pomerol.
One bottle of 1988 Chateau Faizeau Montagne St.Emilion. (with exceptionally high wine fill into neck).


Winedoctor's tasting notes on the 1988 Clos du Clocher:-

"Another dark red wine. An expressive and complex nose,with sweet blackcurrant fruit and beetroot notes. The palate is firm and structured,with a little tannin yet to integrate,and good acidity. There are notes of liquorice and tart black fruits through to the finish. Some good texture here. Needs yet more time in the cellar to reach its best".

Only one Cellartracker tasting note on the 1988 Clos du Clocher:-

"Still a medium garnet with slight browning at the rim. Seems a little tired and very soft straight out of the opened bottle,but then,as often seen with '70s and '80s Bordeauxs,gains weight after about 30 minutes in the decanter. Dark fruit,sous bois,some cedar (unlike many 80s left bankers here the cedar is well integrated and balanced as per discussion with a fellow Cellartracker),fine tannins. Only the short to medium finish could be longer. Drink now but no need to worry that this is going to fall off the cliff any time soon".
(90-91 Points).
