Description

Two half bottles of this rare and quite unique wine:

Parker reviews:
Chapoutier has produced a 1994 Hermitage Vin de Paille. Only about 1000 bottles of this unfiltered wine were produced. Aged completely in new oak, it exhibits an amber color, a sweet butterscotch, peach, tea, and orange marmalade-scented nose, great structure, and amazing richness and length. Michel Chapoutier feels this wine, which tastes like ripe apricots, will last at least a century. Not many readers are in a position to argue with him. 98 Points

Chapoutier's 1995 and 1996 Hermitage Vin de Paille (2,500 half-bottles were produced in each vintage) are extraordinary, nectar-like wines. They exhibit an orange marmalade, honeyed corn, super-sweet richness that is almost too intense to have with dessert. The 1996 possesses slightly better acidity; the 1995 is a heavier, fatter wine. These wines will last 50+ years. 97 Points
