Description

Robert Parker describes 1997 as being a most extraordinary vintage in Barolo:-

"The 1997 vintage had a relatively small crop of overripe,low-acid,high alcohol, unctuously textured Nebbiolos and Barberas that are off the charts in terms of the hedonistic pleasures they deliver. There is nothing "classic" or "typical" about the vintage, but the wines, while often over the top,are among the most extraordinary Barolos,Barbarescos, and Barberas I have ever tasted. This is the type of vintage that comes along only every 30-40 years. The comparisons that could be made are with 1947,a year when alcohol was also extremely high and the acidity very low".

Robert Parker. (Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide. Sixth Edition).

The alcohol level of the 1997 Gianni Voerzio La Serra Barolo is 14%.It has an average rating of 92.3 Points from seven community tastings on CellarTracker.
