Description

The second wine from Ch Léoville-Las-Cases.

In perfect condition in every respect.

Jul 2011 Neal Martin (Wine Journal) 90 Drink 2011 - 2020
Tasted at Roberson’s Las-Cases vertical. Poured from magnum, compared to the 2000, the ’99 is also relatively youthful but does not exhibit nearly the same level of complexity or breeding, with blackberry, cedar and a touch of spice. Like the nose, the palate is a little softer than the 2000 with clean crisp tobacco-laced dark fruit with a very linear, quite tannic finish though without quite the fruit concentration to transcend the vintage. Very fine. Drink now-2020. Tasted February 2011.

Celebrating St Vincent's Day in Stockholm (The Burgundy): Classic St Julien claret but with some oompf from elegant oak treatment. I think this can go many more miles still. Excellent stuff

Decanted for about 30 mins. Mature Bordeaux nose of cigar box, dark red fruits, cassis, a bit of wet earth and pencil shavings. Similar flavours on the palate with a good amount of dark fruit still coming through but layered nicely with secondary earthy flavours. Medium acidity and tannins with a silky smooth mouthfeel and a medium finish. Great overall balance. This wine is in a great spot right now.
