Description

In 1999,the Chaves felt every cuvee was so stunning, there was no justification for doing a special Cuvee Catherin, which they did produce in 1998,1995,1991,and 1990.A brilliant effort, the dense purple-colored 1999 Chave Hermitage exhibits fabulous texture, purity, and sweetness as well as a finish that lasts nearly a minute. There is high tannin, remarkably rich, concentrated extract, and telltale Hermitage fruit characteristics (blackberry, cassis),minerals and spice.Representing the essence of Syrah,it is the greatest vintage Chave has produced since 1990.While it requires 7-10 years of cellaring,it will last 4-5 decades.
