Description

Les Tourelles de Longueville 2007 :-

Deep purple colour. The nose is marked by blackberries, mild spices and notes of oak coming from a remarkably well-integrated barrel ageing. There are some pleasant meaty tones. In the mouth, the texture is both soft and extremely pure and juicy. A complex wine of great quality and power.

“This has been one of the most sumptuous, rich, verging-on-decadent wines with one of, if not the, best price tags in Bordeaux over the last 10 years, and this is the finest example to date. Crafted for early drinking, this is one of our top five value wines of 2010.
Berry Brothers and Rudd, English Wine Merchants”

Jancis Robinson 16.5/20

Les Charmes Haut Brion 2004 :-

An impressive perfume of blueberries, raspberries, graphite, cedar, and flowers suggestive of an outstanding wine soars from the glass of this 2004 Pessac-Leognan. A lush attack reveals excellent fruit, texture, and precision, but the wine narrows slightly in the finish. If it adds weight over the next few years, it will merit an outstanding rating. Give it 1-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 12-14. It is undeniably a sleeper of the vintage.

Score: 89Robert Parker, Wine Advocate Maturity: 2008-2022Date: Friday 01 June 2007

Full red. Very Graves-y aromas of plum, redcurrant, tobacco and smoked meat, along with a whiff of caramel. Sweet and juicy, with good cut and intensity to its flavors of red fruits, spices and tobacco. Nicely persistent, juicy wine with rather suave tannins. Today this seems a bit riper than the young 2006.

Score: 88Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar Date: Tuesday 01 May 2007

Standard ripe Graves. Rather forward and easy. Not ambitious but an attractive drink.

Score: 16 - 17JancisRobinson.com, Jancisrobinson.com Maturity: 2008-2014Date: Tuesday 12 December 2006

A very elegant, fresh, almost citrus nose. Blackberry, vanilla and violets. Superb definition. The palate is bursting full of ripe Merlot fruit. Harmonious with black cherry and wild strawberry. Quite tannic on the finish - good persistency. Excellent. Tasted April 2005.
