Description

Property. 5th cru classified in 1855. Chateau Lynch Moussas (like the Château Lynch Bages) owes its name to the Lynch family, a family of Irish origin established in France since 1691, which acquired it during the 18th century. Phylloxera in the late 19th century and the economic crisis of the early 20th century have undermined the estate which was bought in 1919 by Jean Castéja. After the arrival of Emile Castéja on the estate in 1969, a major planting, rebuilding and restructuring program was put in place to restore the estate to its former glory. His son Phillippe Castéja is now at the head of Chateau Lynch Moussas which makes part of the large portfolio of the Castéja family managed through the wine merchant Borie Manoux.

Parker 91 pts.
Very pretty aromas of crushed fruit, with raspberry and blackberry character. Full-bodied, yet fine and silky, with a long, delicious finish. Very balanced red. I can't remember tasting a better Lynch-Moussas. Best after 2009. 20,000 cases made.
