Description

One 75cl bottle of 2004 Domaine Leroy Gevrey Chambertin. Perfect condition but for a small chip to the wax capsule (see photos).

This was the year that Lalou Bize-Leroy declassified all of her wine, so this is much more than a "normal" villages wine.

This wine was purchased upon release along with a number of other Leroy 2004s and has been stored in my offsite storage and my Eurocave ever since.

The cheapest this wine sells for is upwards of £390 per bottle.

(Domaine Leroy Nuits St.-Georges Villages Red) Surprisingly, given the vineyards blended into the respective cuvées, this is actually more elegant than the Bourgogne with a floral and wonderfully spicy aromatic profile and delicious, sweet, textured and intense medium full flavors that are powerful, muscular and powerful, all wrapped in a strikingly long finish. This is a 'wow' wine. (Drink starting 2013)

This wine is in a better place than it was 2 years ago. Fabulously forward and perfumed nose of red fruit, dried roses. Sweet, tart and acidic on the palate. The finish falls a bit short, but the power on the attack somehow makes up for it.

2004 Leroy Blind (NoMI Chicago): Surprise in the lineup. Sweet red fruit, forward perfumed nose of dried roses, hint of spice and more red fruit. Light and pretty but powerful on the palate. The most ready of the group.
