Description

This Case contains 1 bottle each of:

Les Forts de Latour 2004
Bahans Haut Brion 2004
Carruades de Lafite 2004
Pavillon Rouge de Chateau Margaux 2004

TASTING NOTES

Les Forts de Latour 2004

The estate’s second wine continues to go from strength to strength. The 2004 Forts de Latour (includes 75% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals a deep
ruby/purple hue, classic evolved cedary, lead pencil, and cassis characteristics, medium body, beautiful sweetness of fruit, and a more forward, evolved character than its big sibling. Enjoy it over the next 15+ years.

Score: 90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (171), June 2007

Bahans Haut Brion 2004

This estate’s second wine, the Bahans Haut-Brion, is a light, tart, fresh, feminine effort in 2004. Although lacking in fat and meatiness, it should provide pleasant drinking over the next 7-8 years.

Score: 87-88 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (165), July 2006

Carruades de Lafite 2004

Lafite’s second wine has become stronger over recent vintages as the selection for the grand vin has become Draconian under administrator Charles Chevalier. The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Carruades de Lafite (48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) exhibits sweet, crunchy, savory, black cherry, and raspberry fruit along with hints of road tar, spring flowers, and a touch of minerality. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 12-13.

Score: 89-90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (165), July 2006

Pavillon Rouge de Chateau Margaux 2004

Margaux’s second wine, the 2004 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux, may turn out to be outstanding. Its deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by fleshy notes of black currants, cherries, smoke, earth, and spring flowers. Lovely, ripe, and opulent, it is best consumed during its first 10-15 years of life.

Score: 89 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (165), July 2006
