Description

Two thousand five is one of Burgundy's great red wine vintages. "Between 1999 and 2002 in character" was how Eric Rousseau and several others described the young wines, but hastened to add that 2005 was superior. "Like a purer, brighter, more seamlessly ripe and structurally refined version of the 1999" would be an accurate composite description;these based on the response of those vignerons who hazarded a comparison at all.But not a few stated that this was a vintage of unprecedented quality,as fine a one as they had ever experienced.I share that view from my 25 years of experience with young Burgundy.

David Schildknecht. (The Wine Advocate. #170. April 2007).

"Here the nose is more deeply pitched with an aromatic spectrum that runs more towards black and blue fruit aromas, tinged with obvious earth and spice notes plus a touch of animale that also can be found on the rich, full, and intense full-bodied flavors that possess good grip and a more obviously structured finish that is strikingly long. This is less fine than the 2005 Clos St.Denis, but there is more overall depth of material".
(91-93 Points).

Allen Meadows. (Burghound. January 2007).
