Description

88-90 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Cotes du Rhone Lieu-Dit Clavin red is one of the finest wines of the appellation. From an extraordinarily old vine parcel planted just in front of the winery, its dense purple colour is followed by abundant berry fruit, liquorice, earth, and meat characteristics. Fresh, lively, and medium-bodied, it remains unevolved despite its beautiful fruit and length. I suspect it will merit at least an outstanding score when it has finished its elevage."
This comes from stony, arid and deep soils, just the place for old vine Grenache, which in this wine is supplemented by Syrah and ancient Mourvèdre, much in the style of a fine Chateauneuf du Pape. Lovely and brooding, with dark stone and berry fruit, minerals and a hint of garrigue.

Mainly from old Grenache with various shares of Syrah, Mourvèdre or Cinsault. Aged in foudres.
