Description

Bought En Premier back in 2002/3 and sat in my cellar for the duration. The ullage on all three bottles is 1cm.
Steve Tanzer s International Data Base tasting notes:
Leiwener Laurentiuslay Riesling Auslese ($31): Honeysuckle and pear are prominent in the nose, as they were with the Laurentiuslay Spatlese. If anything, though, there is an even more delicate, rarefied sense of fruit and slate on exhibit here. The feel is glossy without being oily, the flavors firm in their underlying slatiness yet both juicy and honeyed. Fascinating and long. The aim here was to assemble both the best botrytis berries and the best gold-green fruit. By its analysis, this wine is virtually indistinguishable from a Ritsch Auslese which at least on this occasion expressed its utterly different terroir in a rather broodingly stony way. 92
