Description

Bought En Primeur the wines have been resting my cellar since 2002/3. The ullage one bottle is 1.5cm but two are under .5cm. The following are tasting notes online:
11/26/2016 - EMZEE.MC WROTE: 93 Points
At only 15 years of age, this Riesling is still a relative infant. Nevertheless, upon opening, the cork is slightly molded and corroded already. Thankfully, the wine is not corked or spoilt. The juice pours a golden straw yellow color with thin legs. Given the age, it is surprising to see such lightness in color. Somewhat reserved at first, the nose becomes more expressive with time and offers a bouquet of petrol, plasticine, jasmine, raisins, peaches, honeyed nuts and Christmas nuts. Meanwhile, the structure is rather light yet focused. It is linear at first but becomes more expansive after, yield flavors of raisins, honey, lemon curd, fresh cut grass and grilled pineapples. All the while, the mineral streak and acidity are both there to keep the sugar levels in balance. The finish is superbly long with a gentle touch of smoke. The wine then concludes in a balanced, slightly acidic and spicy tone. This is fantastically crafted wine that shows plenty of balance and nuances. Although it is drinking beautifully now, I still see a lot of years ahead of it.

The nose was beautifully finessed with masses of depth, showing dried figs, lemon skin, floral peach, almond and hints of petrol. On the palate it was seamlessly ripe yet juicy with a dollop of brisk granny smith acidity and a bitter twang. The finish went on and on, remaining biter yet rich and satisfying. It was Yin Yang of a wine that kept me guessing at every sniff and indulging in every sip. Very Nice.

Riesling Show (Count s Mannor): this is the feminine foil to the masculinity of Weil. flowers and honey notes dominate the nose, touch of red berries in the mid but more toward apple and white peach, finish has no end. This has tons of life in it an continued to improve over the evening. Spices and herbs on finish. Just excellent.
