Description

For auction is a set of 5 high-end white wine/Riesling glasses from world-renowned 11th generation Austrian glass manufacturers Riedel (founded in 1756).
Their iconic handblown glassware is among the most beautiful, artisanal pieces to serve wine, spirits and Champagne from.

The glasses are in reasonably good to very good condition (see images) and from my vast personal collection glassware that is being reorganised.

These are from their entirely handmade and handblown flagship line "Sommeliers" and were specifically designed to enhance the flavour profile of white wines, in particular Riesling from the Rheingau wine region of Germany - one of the most high-end German wine-growing regions with such estate as Robert Weil, Kloster Eberbach Eltville and Schloss Johannisberg among others.
While these have been designed to suit particular varieties of white wines, I personally have found them to be also extremely suitable for fine spirits, in particular XO, Hors d'age and vintage Cognac (the size and volume is very similar to the large Louis XIII Baccarat glasses), Armagnac and Single Malt Whisky - the last three are the primary drinks for those glasses that I am keeping!
They are also fantastic for fortified wines and most dessert wines.
Ocassionally I have also used them for extremely mature vintage Bordeaux and Rioja reds as the smaller volume and Tulip shape preserves delicate flavour.

The glasses are quite tall and elegant at 20.6cm and crafted in a refined tulip shape, reminiscnet of small versions of Burgundy glasses.
The tech specs give the volume at 230ccm.
The current retail price for one of these glasses is 95£.

The Riedel hallmark for handmade glassware is etched into the foot of each of the crystal glasses.
They will be well packed in neutral packaging.
