Description

"Big, rich, intense and robust aromas explode from the glass and lead to intense, full-bodied, and impressively scaled and dense flavors all wrapped in a wonderfully velvet finish. To be sure, this is no where near ready nor is it a cuddly wine as the structure and power suggest that this will very much take its sweet time coming around. That said, there is so much underlying material that I suspect it could surpass the incredible '96. This will evolve slowly and over many years ".
Tasted: Oct 17, 2004 Score: 94 Drink: Try from 2010+ (Burghound tasting notes)

Mr.Clive Coates Tasting Note:
(Magnum) Medium-full, mature colour. Very lovely, subtle nose. Very concentrated and very lovely. As so often a great wine. Rather more closed than the Clos de Beze. Still a bit of unresolved tannin. Marvellous fruit. Splendid balance. The complete example. Still needs time. Very lovely long finish.
