Description

Jancis Robinson's succinct tasting note from 2004:
"Big, round, lively fruit. Packed with plump classic Pomerol fruit. Fully mature and bonny. A very good Gazin."

Neal Martin of the Wine Advocate tasted this in 2009:
"Tasted at the property, the 1989 has a lovely, quintessential Pomerol nose, wonderful definition and vigour, earthy at first, a touch of brine, undergrowth, smoke and autumn fires. Superb clarity. The palate is medium-bodied, a fleshy texture, well balanced, sweet decayed red-berried fruits, a hint of sloe and a small volatile lift coming through on the finish, then a salty tang lingering on the aftertaste. Drinking now but it should keep several more years. Very fine."

I've drunk a bottle of this myself a few weeks ago and would concur with this 2013 Cellartracker review:

1/30/2013 - GRAPE JUICE WROTE: 91 Points
"Still a youthful dark garnet core but vibrant. Sweet black currant, leather, spices, tobacco leaf ad some smoke note. Medium bodied, still pretty young on the palate. Rounded and refine, not necessary big scale but everything is in perfect balance. I especially like the purity, freshness and the touch of spiciness lingering around the palate along with the silky tannin that leads to the rich, sweet delicious finish."
