Description

Two bottles of this over-performing Pessac-Leognan red.

Not officially classified, this chateau has nonetheless been making classed growth quality wines for many years now, under the ownership of Andre Lurton.

1990 was a great vintage for La Louviere, and this wine has received 90+ scores from just about every critic as well as the Cellartracker community.

This is still drinking at peak with no sign of fading yet, witness these recent notes from Cellartracker:

4/2/2014 - DAVERGNY LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
Wow, knockout nose of sweet tobacco, black cherries, leather & earth. Same on the palate, which is rich, bold, & sweet. A bit tannic and still some freshness too. Very tasty bottle!

9/28/2013 - KLAUSNER1 LIKES THIS WINE: 94 Points
Alack and alas, the last bottle. One of the first wines I ever bought by the case. $19.99 back in the day. This wine aged superbly, this last bottle even better than the penultimate. It shows a nose of raspberry strudel (yup strudel), and if the wine has a flaw, it is that you really have to stick your nose in the glass to smell it. On the palate it is integrated and extremely well balanced with a rich mouth feel. The fruit is center stage and there is a hint of chocolate to go along with it. The finish lingers, thankfully, because the last sip just passed my lips.
