Chateauneuf-du Pape Domaine du Grand Tinel 2000

Drinking beautifully at present (Sept 2013) this really is a blockbuster style of CdP. Deep colour with dark fruit notes and wonderful in the mouth. Not a summer picnic wine!.

JLL quotes: 2000***
"red with dark ruby; has an advancing, gamey, fundamental nose with plum, sweet prune and herbs in it – there is a sweet curve in it, and it is agreeably typical. The palate commences with scented red fruits with interesting flower, maybe rose infusions and a beguiling sweetness. It is not especially deep, but holds good charm and shows an easy drinkability. It ends on a little grainy note, and has a slight cocoa aftertaste. This is good now. 2014-15 June 2008".

89 points "The 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape is a sensual, seductive effort with a medium dark ruby/garnet color, and a huge, peppery, resiny nose with black cherry liqueur and currants galore. Lush, expansive, and hedonistic, its low acidity and plump, flashy character should provide undeniably sumptuous drinking for another 10 years". (Notes 2003)
