Description

You are bidding on a single bottle of Clos Beauregard Pomerol 1971. I originally purchased a case of 12 a few years ago and I’m down to my last few bottles I have thoroughly enjoyed this wine which is absolutely perfect. It has been stored at home in my temperature controlled cellar for nearly 10 years and prior to that in a bonded warehouse.

This 1971 Pomerol is elegant and complex which delivers pure ripe red fruit with a subtle smoky aspect from the oak whilst touches of cedarwood lead to a long aromatic finish

The 40 year-old vine, a token of excellent farming, is mostly Merlot. All plots are worked with leaves thinned on the east side to enable the grapes to reach full maturity and development. In order to optimize the potential of this terroir, Clos Beauregard has been backed by the enological expertise of Michel Rolland and his team since the 2011 vintage.

The 6 hectares of vine covering the beautiful property of Clos Beauregard run across the lower stretches of the Château Beauregard, to which it was attached up until the 1930s.

Pomerol is a much-respected red wine appellation in the Bordeaux region of southwestern France. Both historically and physically, it stands apart from other Bordeaux appellations. It does not conform to the accepted image of a Bordeaux wine district as being a wealthy, long-established, château-laden area, with an all-important (if slightly outdated) classification system. Pomerol is none of these things, yet has managed to earn itself a place among the world's most revered wine region.

Currently discounted at Ocado from £50 to £40 for the 2014 vintage.
