The,cheapest,you,can buy less than a case of,this is £83 per bottle in the UK. The reserve I have set is substantially below this. Wine Spectator gave this 95 points and it averages 92.5 points on Cellartracker - an excellent value top drawer Chateauneuf.

The Sabons' Clos du Mont Olivet is a highly acclaimed property, producing some of the very finest wines in Châteauneuf du Pape. They're endearingly disinterested in the technology and indeed in their own worldwide renown. Robert Parker refers to them as "one of the archconservative bastions of traditionalism in Châteauneuf du Pape" and consistently rates their vintages between 90 and 95 out of 100.To the Sabons, generations of accumulated expertise, perfectly situated vineyards, single mindedness and passion are the essential ingredients making up their world class wines. The glorious 2005 is packed with liquorice, Provençal herbs and cherry and raspberry character, plus hints of roasted meats. Decant and serve with casseroles and roasts.

Clos du Mont Olivet Cuvee du Papet (Their top of the line wine) made its debut in 1989. This special Chateauneuf du Pape wine is produced from mostly old vine Grenache. Many of the vines are over 100 years of age. The wine is aged in vat and demi-muids for about 18 months. Production is small. On average Cuvee Papet is about 1,000 cases per vintage.

"Has lots of grip, with a very stony undertow carrying notes of wet pebble, sweet earth, licorice, coffee and fig. Pretty lavender and spice box hints flitter in the background as well. Dark and chewy on the finish for now, this needs time to settle into itself. Best from 2009 through 2030." Wine Spectator 95 points
