Description

This wine is produced by Denis Dubourdieu, a renowned and highly qualified Bordeaux winemaker and also the Professor of Oenology at the University of Bordeaux.

The soils at Clos Floridene are similar to those of nearby Barsac, with a thin layer of red clayey sand (the "Barsac red sands") overlying a slightly porous limestone bedrock that releases moisture to the soil during summer, preventing excessive water stress.

The vineyard is planted with 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, and produces a vivacious lively wine with fresh acidity and herbaceous/mineral complexity.

Jancis Robinson awarded this wine a hefty 17/20, and Guide Hachette gave it an impressive 2 stars.

The wine is enjoyable now, but I think another couple of years will see it soften further to reach its peak.
