Description

9/22/2013 - @VISSERMARTIJN LIKES THIS WINE:94 Points
APPEARANCE: clear; medium garnet, medium legs & tears
NOSE: clean; medium intensity; flavour characteristics: black fruit(black cherry, blackberry), red fruit(red cherry), prune, raisins, tobacco; fully mature
PALATE: dry; medium acidity; medium body; medium+ tannin (fine grained); medium alcohol; medium finish; medium flavour intensity; flavour characteristics: as per nose: tobacco, prune, raisin, black cherry, blackberry
READINESS FOR DRINKING: drink now, not intended for further ageing
FURTHER REMARKS: amazing Pomerol, still vibrant after 43 years! Great intesity, balanced with still very present fruit. A lot goung on in the glass, great complexity, very rounded. This was a leap of faith during an Auction with turned out a gem!

11/13/2011 - IAN S WROTE:
Despite a tired cork that was determined to come out in instalments, this turned out to be in pretty good shape.
Colour-wise, a little browning at the rim, but the overall colour is both youthful and deep (for its age). Not too forthcoming on the nose, initially faint old wood / plumminess, but a gentle swirl brings out surprisingly strong/pure fruit that allows the initial aromas to play the background complexity.
It really does shine on the palate though, initially sweet, persistent but not overpowering fruit, with some wood/tobacco offering interesting complexity. Acidity is at a level where it carries the flavours along, refreshes, yet doesn't make a grab for attention. There are even some faint residual tannins, but they play a minor role now. Also noteworthy is that the wine carries a relatively rich mouthfeel at an age where I'd expect something more light than medium bodied.

5/19/2010 - JMHT WROTE:90 Points
Muted nose of plum; palate of cocoa/chocolate, plum coaxed out 90 minutes after decant, faint dusty tannins, some leather, earth. Very well balanced.
