Description

Unopened, original case of 6 bottles of one of the greatest Chablis and white burgundies imaginable. 2014 might be the finest vintage I can recall, and if not then the difference isn’t worth splitting

Bought en primeur.

2014 Raveneau MdT has rightly be lauded as something special. I prefer it to the Clos and Valmur in this vintage.

It is currently unavailable in the UK, with a correspondingly eye watering price elsewhere

I’ve set a hefty (but still reasonable) reserve, which I wouldn’t normally but let’s not be silly this is one of my favourite wines

“ The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre confirms its status as one of Raveneau's best renditions of this site over the last two decades, unfurling in the glass with a textbook bouquet of lemon oil, crisp green orchard fruit, oyster shell and anise, framed by light reduction that dissipates in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, elegantly glossy and seamlessly layered, with excellent concentration and tension at the core, concluding with a long, precise and penetrating finish. This wine is evolving at a glacial pace and is still far from reach its peak, but its quality is impossible to miss.”

“ This is a Montée de Tonnerre cruising at Grand Cru altitude. This may well represent the finest Chablis that I have ever encountered from Montée de Tonnerre.”

“ Suffice to say, the 2014s are some of greatest wines that I have tasted from Raveneau and I concur with Isabelle (Raveneau) that they do resemble the 2010.”
