Description

Bottle in perfect condition, recently removed from bonded storage and kept in dark cool cellar since.

'Corton-Bressandes, Grand Cru, 2013. An intense and grown glass of red burgundy. The wine incorporates vegetal, fruity and untrained notes into its aroma profile, and with its marked tannin structure can be enjoyed for a more powerful serving.

Manufacturer

Domaine Nudant Jean-René is run by the Nudant family, whose roots in Burgundy date back to 1453. Jean-René and his son Guillaume are responsible for the production and today they have about 16 hectares spread over 20 appellations in Burgundy. The property is located in the municipality of Ladiox-Serrigny, and this is also where vinification takes place. There is a high focus in the field on the concentration, maturity and quality of the grapes, and when harvested only the best grapes are selected. Domaine Nudant works with both new and old oak, and the wines are typically stored for about 12 months before being transported to stainless steel tanks to collect.

Vineyard

Corton-Bressandes is the only grand cru slope where red wine is grown in the Côtes de Beaune. The southeast-facing slope is located in Corton, and forms the lower part of the Corton Grand Cru. Pinot noir is grown here on a soil of mainly stone, lime and clay, providing advantageous drainage opportunities for the vines, all between 50-60 years old. There is a generally low yield on these canes, but the concentration is high. The wines of Corton-Bressandes are typically rich, characterful, with a noticeable tannin structure that gives the wine every opportunity to age with grace.

Scent and taste

In the glass, the wine appears bright ruby red with a faint orange tinge, as expected by burgundian pinot noir with age. This Corton has an intense and complex scent of green pepper, herbs, dish, mushrooms and forest berries, and in the background the familiar scent of red berries. There is no doubt that this wine is a little more adult and complex – let it stand in the glass for a few minutes. Tastefully, the wine is vegetal, herbal, pricey and has a marked tannin structure and power. An intense glass with a long aftertaste, which can be decanted.

The wine can be enjoyed with a more powerful serving – e.g. beef roe with grilled onions, pommes fondant and pepper sauce.'
