Description

Tasting description is as follows:-

Very pretty wine. After 25 years in the bottle, the up- front fruitiness had eased into subtle notes of cherry and tobacco, elegant mid-palate and a medium finish. I was pleasantly surprised at how vibrant and balanced this wine remains despite its age.


Label detail is as follows:-

One of California's oldest wineries, Far Niente was founded in 1885 and flourished till Prohibition. Abandoned for over 60 years, it has now been transformed into a state-of-the-art winemaking facility and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The name, romantically translated to "without a care," was originally carved in stone on the front of the building where it remains today. We felt an obligation to preserve the name Far Niente and, hopefully, to recapture a bygone era when life was indeed "without a care."

Our Goals at Far Niente are to concentrate our winemaking efforts on estate bottled Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon to make our wines without compromise, and to maintain the traditions of a world class wine estate.
