Description

This mixed lot of superb recent vintage Bordeaux is an ideal combination for a serious Sunday lunch!

These wines have been cared for at home; I have tasted both of them recently; and they are drinking well.

Ch. de la Grave, Grains Fins, 2018 is pale gold; wonderfully rich, and relatively unusual as there is no Sauvignon Blanc - only Semillon and Colombard in this blend. On the first nose there is honey and mango. On the second, after a swirl, it's floral - daffodils and honeysuckle - with more distant aromas of green plums and pineapple. There is a good whack of acidity; citrus notes and more pineapple on the palate. Good long length. I thought about it pairing with a blue cheese and pear salad.

The Ch. Reynon 2015 - from the Denis Dubourdieu stable, and the vintage before he passed away - is turning tawny on the rim with a ruby core. First nose is blackberries. The second is more decadent: evocative of a Nigella chocolate and raspberry cake. The palate shows good supple tannins and a decent level of acidity. There is fresh black fruit still with violets and cedar in the background. Would be perfect for your Sunday Roast, and will happily accompany a cheese plate too...
