Description

There's very little I can say about this sublime wine - notes below, but Parker rated it at 95 in the Wine Buyers Guide 3rd Edition. This uber rare wine is in great order - level about 3cm from capsule. Best in UK is just over £3000 - reserve on this is well below that.

The Grands Echezeaux is broader than the Echezeaux, with more black-raspberry and black-cherry elements in its smoky, exotic nose, as well as a longer, more opulent and fleshy finish. Slightly superior to the Echezeaux, its lifeline should be similar - between 1995-2010 95/100 Parkers Wine Guide



In 2018, there is the immediate impact and piercing purity of Pinot fruit on the nose that marks it out as DRC. The sweet succulence on the palate mixes with the earth of the vineyard, smooth and mature now but with underlying ripples of briary brambles and exotic dried fruit. The finish stays with you, seamless and yet with the untamed elements of very great Burgundy in a headline year. Serena Sutcliffe, MW WA 93

This is a wine that I've had the pleasure of enjoying many times since its release and one that offers fantastically rich yet not excessively ripe fruit and flavors with excellent density, concentration and superb length. The breadth of flavors and incredible texture here is outstanding and the wine offers stunning overall quality. A great wine that is only just now beginning to reveal its full potential and while the tannins are finally beginning to soften, the overall impression is one of notable youthfulness. Even though one could approach this now, it will last for decades. (5/2010)
