Description

Very deep, velvety, starting to mature, rich deep slightly singed Syrah and sweaty tannins, sweetest of the range, ripe, good fruit, length and tannin. Delicious ****(*) Michael Broadbent.

Medium-deep red-ruby. Roasted, tarry red fruits, animal fur and chocolate on the nose; as vibrant and vinous as a barrel sample. Extremely lush and concentrated, and already highly aromatic in the mouth, with notes of red and black fruits, roasted nuts, spices, chocolate and tobacco. Beautifully integrated acidity. Finishes very long, with substantial, very fine tannins. A superb vintage for this top Hermitage bottling. 93+/100 Stephen Tanzer

YES. Really beautiful, drinking perfectly. Classic north rhone nose and development, showing well. A really great wine to bring out for a bbq dinner in the garden on the warmest night of the year.

2/24/2013 - LA CAVE D'ARGENT LIKES THIS WINE:93 Points
This wine was sampled at a walk-around Academy Awards party. The bottle was generously provided by M.B., who purchased it upon release and cellared it in pristine fashion. It still shows a deep red/garnet robe and a bouquet of cocoa, smoked meat, earth and Asian spice, all wrapped around a backbone of black cherry. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, fairly soft residual tannins, well-integrated alcohol and flavors in line with the nose. The middle palate remains solid and the lengthy finish is silky smooth. Another nice showing for this wine, which is holding up well. Drink now-2018.

12/19/2012 - MROYER LIKES THIS WINE:95 Points
Wonderful bouquet of violettes, cherry, mushroom, bacon. A powerful start. The palate showed firm acidity, integrated tannin, and a long finish. Flavors matched the nose. The wine remained wonderful for over an hour in glass changing very little until it finally faded away. This wine is just hitting stride and will drink well for another decade at least.
