This is for 4 bottles of duty paid Houghton Jack Mann Cabernet Sauvignon 1994 Vintage (current 2017 vintage sells at over £100 per bottle)

Houghtons
1994 Houghton Jack Mann is a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Justin Vineyard in the heart of the Frankland River region in Western Australia. The Houghton Jack Mann is named in honour of the late, great Jack Mann MBE. He was the honoured Houghton Winemaker from 1922 to 1973. Not only did Jack have a huge influence on the development of the Western Australian wine industry but his commitment to quality and integrity still has an influence on all winemakers today.

Jack Mann
Jack Mann Cabernet Sauvignon from Justin Vineyard is characterised by cool winters, warm summer days and cool summer nights. The soils at Frankland River are degraded granite gravels that are some of the oldest in the world. The Cabernet grapes for Jack Mann are hand harvested from a small patch of 46 year-old vines. Hand sorting the fruit before de-stemming into small open top fermenters ensures the utmost quality and it shows. The individual ferments were then undertaken with indigenous yeast‘s, with routine hand plunging, lasting for 10 days before pressing at dryness. This wine was then transferred to French oak barriques oak for malolactic fermentation and then subsequent maturation for 17 months.

The 1994 Vintage is a piece of history being the 1st ever release of Jack Mann Cabernet Sauvignon and as an original Houghton clone as was selected by Jack Mann MBE himself. The vintage is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon about 10% Malbec and 5% Shiraz 13.5%, pH 3.39, TA 6.7 This is the flagship label in Houghton's fine wine collection and holds the distinction of being 'Langton's Classified', recognising it as a select Australian wine that continues to appreciate in value at fine wine auctions. The current vintage 2017, is released at over £100 bottle from Houghton direct, but is not allocated to the UK or available in the UK now.

Provenance & review
I have a few cases of these from various years – here I offer 4 bottles from my personal collection of the Vintage 1994. These have been stored in ideal conditions and are now coming to their peak – perfect for drinking now. You can see from the pictures all these bottles offered have high levels and labels and bottles are in great condition. Its medium purple-red, with aromas of plum and mulberry but has this cedar, vanilla and spice to balance the fruit, the length is fine supple tannins which are soft. creamy and inviting very well balanced.

Will cellar for a good while yet, with care and I am sure will increase ever more in value and rarity, but idealy one to drink and enjoy now from a great label.
