Description

Though one of the lesser known Houses of Port Martinez was by the mid 19th century the largest shipper of Port to the UK. Together with Cockburn, Martinez were the only Houses to solely declare the 1967 vintage, as opposed to the 1966. The vintage is similar in style to the 66 but never quite reached the same dizzy heights.

Recently removed from an Essex cellar where it has lain undisturbed since purchase in the late 1960’s. It has been moved for the label to be cleaned for images and checking general condition. The wine appears to be top shoulder and the capsule is clean.

James Suckling gave 93pts – A blockbuster, much better than the 1967 Cockburn. Excellent youthful ruby-red, with rich, ripe cherry aromas, full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins forming a solid backbone for the mass of fleshy fruit flavours.
