Description

One bottle of this famous white wine.

Chateau Margaux dedicates 12 hectares of vines to making a dry white, labelled Pavillon Blanc. It is one of the great white wines of Bordeaux. The vines are 100% Sauvignon Blanc and production is approximately 3,000 cases per annum.

Tasting note from the property:

“The 1997 Pavillon Blanc shows an excellent balance between freshness and smoothness. The very ripe aromas of the Sauvignon and the elegance found in great vintages are in clear evidence. Only concentration is lacking when compared with the 1996. It can be enjoyed as of now and in the years to come.(November 2008).”

90 points, Wine Spectator:

“The best white from Château Margaux I have ever tasted. Full-bodied and creamy, with pears and peaches galore and a long, caressing finish. This is all finesse and class. (JS) (9/1999).”

I bought this from a UK merchant at least 15 years ago (I can’t now pinpoint the exact date) and it has been in my cellar since purchase, properly stored. The label has a few marks on as shown in the photographs and there are a few small scuff marks on the capsule.
