Description

2x bottles 37.5cl of 2002 Rayne Vigneau, 1er Grand Cru Classe Sauternes. In excellent condition as seen on the photos. Recently taken from controlled temperature bonded warehouse.

'Produced in the Sauternes appellation over an area of 84 hectares, the Chateau de Rayne Vigneau is a First Classified Growth of 1855 white wine with a blend of 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc.

The Chateau de Rayne Vigneau 2002 presents a beautiful straw yellow colour. The nose exudes beautiful floral aromas with great purity, freshness and lightness that balances with jellied quince notes. On the palate, it is delicate and well-balanced. A wine of rare elegance.'

'Pale greenish gold. Light, Sauvignon-dominated nose on dramatically botrytis influenced fruit. A very impressive, if not the biggest, lightly opulent wine. Clean and neat and very pleasing. Lovely round texture.' Score 17.5/20 Jancis Robinson

'The 2002 Rayne-Vigneau has an attractive bouquet with subtle clear honey scents and a touch of peppermint. It shows great clarity for a Sauternes ‘02. The palate is well-balanced on the entry with nicely judged acidity. It is harmonious but not the most complex Sauternes of the vintage, yet it fans out toward the finish with delicate notes of creme caramel and a dash of spice. Drink now-2020+.' Neal Martin
