This is one of the ultimate Californian cult wines, in probably the best ever vintage. The cheapest current UK price (including VAT) for three bottles of this wine is £1175. It can be found for almost exactly £1000 if you're willing to travel to Switzerland. The reserve here is very significantly less than that.

Robert Parker has given this wine 100 points on both the last two occasions he has rated it. He says:

"One of the world’s most extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignons is the 1,800-2,400-case offering of Shafer’s Hillside Select. It was a treat to re-taste the utterly perfect 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select.
