Description

Vintage Port from one of the top houses in the Douro in a superb vintage.

'This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades. Their tawnys are also among the very best, though somewhat expensive. The 1975 has turned out richly fruity, supple, and offers delicious drinking for the near future. 87pts'
Buying Guide, 2nd Edition # B4
Jan 1989 Robert Parker

'Certainly more mature in colour than the -70 or the -77, this has a light, more feminine nose with wild strawberry, cherry, a touch of graphite and sawdust. Not complex but clean and fresh. Medium-bodied palate, much more fruit-driven than others in this decade and perhaps lacking the same structure. But it is clean, quite precise with an attractive smooth texture. A less intellectual Taylor's to imbibe without too much thinking! The youngest Taylor's I would recommend to drink now. Tasted November 2007. 90pts'
