"A successful wine for Lafite, this dark,ruby/purple-colored 1993 is tightly-wound,medium-bodied,with a closed set of aromatics that reluctantly reveal hints of sweet blackcurrant fruit, weedy tobacco, and lead pencil scents.Polished and elegant, with Lafite's noble restraint, this is an elegant, classy, slightly austere wine".

Robert Parker. (eRobertParker.com February 1997).

"Very polished and well-crafted black cherry, toast, earth, and mineral flavors, all in nice proportions.Medium body, supple tannins".

James Suckling. (The Wine Spectator. January 1996).

Other details

This bottle was bought as Futures (En Primeur) via a US wine merchant. It has since been stored in perfect conditions.Initially,it was stored underground in a US cellar, but approximately in October 2010 it was transferred to the UK,where it has since been stored horizontally in a purpose-built,temperature-controlled cellar. The wine fill (see photograph) is exceptionally high into neck for a 24 year-old bottle. The label appears to have some red wine marks and a small tear on the lower USA strip label.Because the wine level is so high, with no signs of leakage on this bottle,I believe that the red wine splashes on the label are unlikely to come from wine inside this bottle. The capsule is in an excellent state.
