Grapes are selected from the Oyón and Laguardia regions of Rioja. The vineyards are at an altitude of 550 metres with vines planted in calcareous clay soils. Controlled fermentation takes place at 28ºC and then the wine is aged for 26 months in a mix of American and French oak barrels. No residual sugar.
Very concentrated and powerful – like a mix of strawberry jam and mouse fur.

DC 97 Decanter,

Deliciously decadent, with extraordinary vitality on the palate and a long, unique finish. A jewel at this price. I have this wine full marks - it was perfect. I cannot think of any other wine, in this price range, that provides so much complexity, elegance, style, classicism and length. 19.3/20

(WE 91pts) Wine Enthusiast, July 2014
Rusty and mature looking, this is woodsy, dry and rooty on the nose, with whiffs of tree bark and tobacco running alongside cherry and berry notes. It's mature, with flavours of stewed plum, herbs and spice that are straight from the textbook, while the finish is dry, earthy and showing core acidity. Drink now.

JJ Buckley, March 2016

A beautiful, light ruby colour in the glass straight to the rim. Aromas of strawberry and cherry mix with hints of cigar box, cola and wild spice. The palate shows excellent depth while remaining vibrant- there are layers of flavour that keep revealing themselves with each sip, but the wine does not feel tired in the least. The finish is long and complex, and makes you want to come back for more. This is drinking beautifully now and should continue to impress for at least another 5+ years.

Other details

This is one of my favourite wines from Rioja. It is drinking superbly at the moment. These bottles are in excellent condition and have been stored in a cool cellar since purchase.
