The 2008 Chateau de Chantegrive was awarded a Gold Medal at the Concours de Bordeaux in 2010 (as was the 2010 vintage at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2012) and according to the tasting notes below is a consistently good 89 Points scoring claret:-

"Good, with dense tannins, a powerful wine that shows a rich structure. It has obvious acidity, but that fits into a fresh profile".
(88-90 Points).

Roger Voss. (The Wine Enthusiast. 31/12/2009)

"Very dark red violet color;appealing cassis,tart plum nose;plush,ripe cassis,plum,oak palate medium-plus finish".
(89 Points).

Richard Jennings. (RJonWine,com 21/1/2011).

Only two tasting notes on Cellartracker:-

"Suave menthol and fruit aromas, with a fine palate texture infused with black fruit, delivered in a smooth manner, showing balance and energy. Fine Graves and a bargain. 88-91+".
(88-91+ Points).

PANOSKAKAVIATOS. (Cellartracker. 1/6/2009).

"Bringing red meat, oak and smoked on nose. With air showed some finesse with soft violet and cinnamon. Well structured and smooth texture revealing black pepper and plums and an excessively medicinal finish. Good wine".
(89 Points).

KBCADEPONEI. (Cellartracker. 7/5/2016).

An even higher 90 Points rating for the 2010 Chateau de Chantegrive:-

"A fabulous sleeper of the vintage, Chantegrive’s 2010 is the best wine I have ever tasted from this estate, which has long made very good wines that represent terrific values. An equal part blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 exceeds all expectations. Notes of tobacco leaf, creme de cassis, barbecue smoke and loads of flesh, opulence and richness characterize this dense purple-colored wine, which is full-bodied and over-achieving. Drink it over the next decade. A major sleeper of the vintage".
(90 Points).

Robert Parker.(The Wine Advocate. February 2013).

"Dark and winey, with lots of steeped currant and crushed blackberry fruit wrapped with tarry grip. A licorice root edge frames the finish, which stays fleshy and muscular. Very solid. Best from 2014 through 2022".
(90 Points).

The Wine Spectator. (April 2013).
