Lot size: 1 bottle of 750 ml each Wine type: Red, 1989 vintage
Tax status: Duty PaidQuestion Mark Origin: Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
Fill level: Into Neck (IN)Question Mark Grape variety: Bordeaux Blend

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's Christmas lunch. At 21-years of age,the Lafite-Rothschild 1989 has a lovely bouquet, quintessential Pauillac, with cedar, pencil shavings, bay leaf and tar.The aromatics are well-defined and melt nicely with aeration though all the time remaining well-knit.The palate is medium-bodied,with a svelte, quite seductive entry that hints of blackcurrant wine gums, wild strawberry, cedar, and graphite. It has impressive weight in the mouth, with a strident, graphite and dried herb finish that lingers wonderfully.Simply a wonderful Pauillac at the peak of its powers.Drink now-2025.
(96 Points).

Neal Martin (eRobertParker.com Tasted,December 2010).

I have never been a huge fan of this Lafite, but it seems to be coming into its own now. It's a wine with a character of cloves and berries with hints of plums. It shows loads of potpourri.Roses too.Full and so balanced.Tight and youthful. The winemaker at Lafite says that when he wants to show someone a perfect example of Lafite, this is the Lafite he pours.Maybe he is right?
(97 Points).
