Top quality Sauternes for the Christmas and New Year festivities?
Chateau Rieussec was ranked in the original 1855 classifications as a Premier Grand Cru Classe Sauternes and it continues to produce magnificent sweet white wine.
1999 and 2007 were both excellent vintages and they have received high points ratings from the professional tasters.Rieussec has been owned by the Rothschild family since 1985 and it is one of the richest and most exotic of all Sauternes.

"(Bottled shortly after my tasting).Explosive aromas of apricot, peach, minerals, creme caramel, grilled nuts and spices, along with cooler hints of licorice and menthol.Thick, sweet, and chewy, with extract;an impressively mouthfilling wine, with lovely framing acidity.Characteristically big and peachy.Finishes spicy, shapely, and very long. The class of the tasting".
(94 points).

Stephen Tanzer. (Describing the 1999 Rieussec. International Wine Cellar. August 2002)

"Tasted single blind against its peers. The Rieussec 2007 has a subtle nose of dried honey, pear,a touch of quince and crushed stone on the nose, the oak better integrated than last year. The palate is well-balanced with stem ginger and honeycombe on the entry. It is linear compared to its peers, there is no flourish on the finish as yet,but it has fine definition and hints of tangy marmalade and lemongrass that should become more accentuated with time. Tasted,January 2011".
(93 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. February 2012).
