Many comments about this wine on the internet, amongst which:-

Fonseca is one of the great port lodges, producing the most exotic and most complex port. It excels in its magnificently complex, intense bouquet of plummy, cedary, spicy fruit and long, broad, expansive flavours. With its lush, seductive character, one might call it the Pomerol of Vintage ports. The 1966 is a top success for that vintage and is fully mature, but will hold for 15 or more years.
Vintage Wine & Port.

3/2/2019 - M.Y. CHONG LIKES THIS WINE:
Lovely complex nose of warm and round cooked fruits, cherries in particular. With tobacco, roasted coconut, figs, nuts. This wine finishes long with a spicy peppery finish tinged with orange peel. And the fig goes all the way from the nose to the finish. The alcohol is imperceptible and the tannins are fully resolved. This I think is at a lovely stage. It didn’t look 53 years old at all but the nose, palate, and finish were telling.
1/18/2019 - MAOC WROTE:
Opened as the lowest level from my bottles. Needn’t have worried - it is remarkably youthful probably the most so if any 60s port I have tasted. A day of slow ox and two hours of air left it a little mute but it opened up across a couple more hours. Deep, ripe cherry, other red fruit flecks, floral hints and spicy elements, only hints of development - walnut and leather - but really this is quite complex yet still rather primary. Excellent but needs time ****(*+)
1/5/2019 - ENGLISHMAN'S CLARET WROTE:93 Points
Fairly big, black-fruited profile with orange peel, lots of Christmas spice. Perhaps not quite as elegant as one might expect of a good vintage mature Fonseca, but certainly a pleasurable, mature vintage port.
7/4/2018 - ROLLERBALL WROTE:99 Points
Oh my goodness: YUM!! Smells, tastes, and feels like heaven then sinks for minutes into the most comfortable, delightful finish, as if into a soft leather couch. So much going on yet perfectly internally complementary ... not to mention scrumptious. Like swimming in a rainbow. I will never forget the first sip of this, where I was standing, where the sun was in the sky, everything. It's been a while since a wine took my breath away like this.
