Description

"The 1970 Les Ormes de Pez has been a consistently strong performer. After having drunk nearly a case, I must confess that not one bottle has been fully mature, and I doubt that this wine will ever reach an ideal balance between its fruit, tannin, and acidity. The most concentrated Les Ormes de Pez I have tasted, it possesses a thick, plum/garnet color with an amber tint at the edge. Thick, rich, and robust, with a peppery, iron, cedary, earthy, curranty nose, this admirable, full-throttle wine can be drunk now as well as over the next decade".
(89 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate June 1996).

Depending on cellarage conditions and wine ullage, the quality of wine of this age can be very variable, but there is a good chance that this bottle (high shoulder) could offer an interesting and enjoyable (perhaps marvellous...See below) drinking experience.Going forward, perhaps an excellent gift for a 50th Birthday or Anniversary. The last two Cellartracker wine tasting notes:-

"Mid shoulder fill, certainly a high-risk bottle. I think this one survived. There was definitely still fruit on the nose and some energy left. The colour was plenty dark. A bit funky and old, perhaps leather or forest floor. Not bretty though. Smooth on the palate with mostly resolved tannins. Definitely a nice wine to try as an intellectual exercise but not hedonistic or intellectual really".
(90 Points).

BORDEAUX-JON. (Cellartracker. 22/11/2017).

For those who understand French:-

"Vin merveilleux et profond, nez classique, fruit très présent encore, alcool, corsé, épicé, humus, terre, cuir, très beau rubis de la robe. Excellent".
(92 Points)

MEQOUBAL36. (Cellartracker. 20/7/2013).
