1977 DOW'S Vintage Port 'SilverJubilee'
Arrow

Description

From the cellars of a Dorset country house.
Level is clearly 'Base of Neck'. The bottle and capsule are marked 1977.
Label complete and as per photo.

The Symington Family became sole owners of Dows Port in 1961.
As with all vintage Ports, Dows Vintage Ports are only produced or 'declared' in years of exceptional quality and represent a very small percentage (2 - 3%) of total Port production. The grapes that form the backbone of Dows vintage Port come from the company's finest vineyards at Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, each contributing different characteristics to the distinctive style. Dows has evolved, with slightly longer fermentation times than other Ports, to be drier style of Port. These wines are aged in seasoned oak casks for some 18 months and are bottled without any filtration or fining whatsoever. Dows 1977 Vintage Port is, like most of the 1977 Vintage Ports, is becoming quite approachable now but will reward anyone able to cellar it for another 15 years.
