Description

Robert Parker hailed the 2009 vintage as "The finest vintage of Bordeaux that I have tasted in 37 years".
"What's so striking about 2009 - and I haven't seen this sort of excitement since 1982 - is the quality of the Cru bourgeois and the petits vins and the generic Bordeaux that are available.In short,2009 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in Bordeaux since 1982,of which it is a modern-day version,but greatly improved".

Chateau Duplessis is named after Armand du Plessis,nephew of Cardinal Richelieu,whose hunting lodge it once was.The chateau is now owned by Marie-Laure Lurton,of the hugely influentially Lurton family,who have a deep understanding of what gives Bordeaux wines their character.
The 2009 Chateau Duplessis is a blend of 79% Merlot,12% Cabernet Sauvignon,7.6% Cabernet Franc and 1.4% Petit Verdot.Manual harvest,it is matured for 12 months in French oak (25% of which is new).Deep red,with tinges of purple,this wine shows an expressive nose,with aromas of vanilla,cinnamon,blackcurrant and liquorice.On the palate,it is lively and fruity with good tannins to the fore,with a fresh,minty finish.


The 2009 Chateau Duplessis won a Gold Medal at the Concours General Agricole,Paris in 2011.


"Fresh,with a lovely acidity from start to finish,with cherry,fig and notes of brambles.There is a subtly firm definition of grilled spices that frame the finish".
