Description

A single bottle of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac from the legendary 1990 vintage.

This is in immaculate condition, amazing for the age, from a private Yorkshire cellar. I knew the owner very well and it will have been lying undisturbed in his private cellar since purchase, originally from the Wine Society en primeur.

The level is into the neck, as good as can be expected for a wine 28 years old. The capsule is unmarked, and not showing any signs of swelling, leakage or deterioration.

Very dark blackish crimson. Notably aromatic, even a hint of herbaceousness on this bottle. Lovely balance and spread of mellow aromas. Tannins fully molten. Quite delicate for a 1990. Quite fresh enough on the finish. Subtle with a hint of tarmacadam. Lots of pleasure. Neat.
