Description

Rich ruby with very 1990 dusty rusty rim. So amazingly ripe and powerful. Fully evolved and luscious on the nose.Very sweet and fleshy with just some very fine tannins on the finish. Luscious. Lots of mature fruit with a hint of rather attractive decay - like those waxy anti mosquito preparations..? Very sweet and gorgeous.
Score: 18 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, July 2009

A shockingly good second wine but not so surprising when you consider the 1990 vintage as a whole. Deep red core with a raspberry edge this wine has held together particularly well. A very fragrant wine indeed - in fact the whole restaurant noticed when this was opened - delightful violets and cassis on the nose with a touch of licorice. As with several 90's I noticed plums and cherries on the palate along with spice, black fruits, ink and soft, soft, soft. Really delicious and resolved tannins with great acidity and balance - beats the pants off many Grand Vins. Fantastic!

9/20/2017 - RMCNEES LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
Opaque, ruby colored, medium bodied, a full bouquet of floral perfume and forest floor that holds on the breath in the mouth long after sipping, silky smooth, sinewy, polished notes of black currant fruit integrated with notes of tobacco, leather, hints of cassis and touch of cedar and spice on the almost delicate finish.

Bordeaux: Second wines in great vintages. (Valuas): Beautiful bouquet with earth. autumn forest, tobacco, dark berries and luxurious oak and cedar. On the palate the same impressions with great and beautiful acidity, some pleasant barnyard, silky tannin with a soft bite. Overall harmonious and a great length. Lovely and luxurious wine, ready now and the next few years.

10/29/2016 - THE PLAYER LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
Lovely mature Pauillac and underrated. One of the 1990s that I really like. Decanted and let breathe for an hour. Bricking throughout the wine showcasing its age, lovely nose of cassis, cooked meat, sweet tobacco and extremely old leather. On the palate refined entry wwit mature cassis and black currants, some spice, good backbone, elegance dare I say and balance. Still good acidity to the wine with time in the decanter and a lovely long finish and fully resolved tannins. Excellent. Keeps getting better.
