Description

88pts Wine Searcher Critics

Barbera d'Alba, a popular red wine from Piemonte is less well known than its famous neighbour in Barolo. Barbera is lighter bodied, with higher acidity and is much less tannic than Nebbiolo.

This particular Barbera has soft tannins and a fresh persistent acidity which is typical for Barbera. It is perfectly balanced with a sweet fruity taste and a medium-long finish. Selected from a single vineyard, this intriguing wine is made entirely in stainless steel vats, in accordance with the traditional production method for Barbera which is somewhat against recent trends to mature Barbera in oak to make it more tannic and soften the acidity.

A delightful wine that stands up well against its competitors and good value too.
