Description

This is an old bottling of the Hine "Antique" Cognac. "Antique" is now the brand name for their XO.

The bottle shape is from that period and the label says it is 24 fl oz, making it pre - Common Market. The Royal Warrant was granted in 1962, which means this is likely to have been bottled somewhere between 1962 and 1973.

This bottle is in fine condition. The label has slight rubbing on the "Q". The fill is as shown. The seal is undamaged. The colour is a fab amber.

The very helpful people at Hine gave the following advice, which confirms what I thought above:

"...this dates back to the early 1970's. We know that it was done after 1962 which is when we were awarded the Royal Warrant.

All the eaux-de-vie composing Hine Antique XO are a minimum of 10 years. As far as the oldest are concerned, there is really no limit, and it differs from one batch to another. The average of the blend is no less than 20-25 years.

Antique is our flagship brand and although it has changed from Vieille Fine, to XO to Grande Champagne over the years - it is still a remarkable product!"

Low reserve and no commission. The Whisky Exchange sell a 1950s bottling for £500 (ex delivery) and a 1960s bottling for £475 (ex delivery), both with a lower fill, so grab a bargain.
