For sale - 1 bottle of 1937 Chateau Margaux 1er Grand Cru Classe.
This bottle is in fantastic condition for a wine that is over 70 years old. The label shows signs of exposure to damp conditions, but is fully readable and intact. The level is superb (base of the neck), which implies excellent storage thoughout its life. The capsule is good and there is no cork expansion whatsoever. See the pics for eveidence of all this. As with most Bordeaux bottles of this age, there is a very high kick-up. There are no scratches on the bottle - but there are marks that are commensurate with the methods of bottle-making years ago. It wasn't as perfect as it is today. Please ask if you need to see more pictures.
I have owned this bottle for a number of years and during that time it has been kept at a temperature and humidity-controlled 14 degrees. Prior to that it was owned by my grandmother, although for how long I am not sure. It is certainly fair to say though, that going by the condition, it has been well looked after.
